While the community is no doubt pleased that the winter is beginning to give way to spring, local retailers say the winter season wasn’t all bad for them.
With frequent icing and heavy totals of snow accumulation the past several months, it’s safe to say most individuals will not miss This winter season. However, the frequent ice and snow events certainly helped to boost sales at local establishments including Waters True Value and Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply.
Waters manager Mark Shook tells KVOE News the two biggest items that flew off their shelves were:
Shook adds, they had to restock several items, namely ice melt, more frequently than in year’s past. He says they receive their ice melt by the truckload, and this year they received three different truckloads to replenish stocks, which is roughly three times more than year’s past.
Shovel and melting material sales were reflected at Bluestem according to manager Bruce Burnheide. He adds, just like Waters, they had some issues keeping items on the shelves due to the frequency of purchases.
Overall this year’s winter saw more snowfall than the past three years combined.
