The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Washburn Saturday.
Washburn won the first game 6-3. Emporia State won the 2nd game 9-1 in 5 innings. The Lady Hornets scored 3 runs in the first inning on an error, a Hanna Steebe triple and a sac bunt. Emporia State added 6 runs in the 4th inning. They scored 3 of the runs thanks to errors. Gabby Biondo drove in a run with a bunt single. A run also scored on a wild pitch and a bases loaded walk. Kelsey Phillips was the winning pitcher giving up 1 run on 4 hits and 3 strikeouts. The Lady Hornets are now 6-15 for the season and 2-4 in the MIAA.
