The second inductee into the National Teachers Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019 has been announced.
Dyane Smokorowski, a technology and innovation lead teacher in the Andover school district, was honored during the district’s board meeting Monday night. She has been teaching at Andover since 2008 and was the state Teacher of the Year in 2013. Before teaching in Andover, she has also taught in Wichita and Renwick during a better than 20-year career. She now becomes the 12th inductee from Kansas since the Hall of Fame’s first induction class in 1992.
Smokorowski’s induction announcement follows one Friday for Florida high school math teacher Dr. Mary Jo Murray. Announcements for three more teachers will be made in the next few weeks.
