The Emporia State baseball team split a doubleheader with Oklahoma Christian Tuesday. The Hornets won the first game 6-3. Oklahoma Christian won the 2nd game 18-15.
In the first game Aaron Dees hit a grand slam in the first inning to give the Hornets a 4-0 lead. Connor Hurst added a solo home run in the 7th.
The 2nd game was a slug fest. Oklahoma Christian built a 9-0 lead after 2 innings. Emporia State rallied with 3 runs in the 3rd inning. They scored 5 runs in the 4th, highlighted by a Connor Hurst home run. Hurst added a grand slam in the 6th inning to give the Hornets a 13-9 lead. Oklahoma Christian scored 5 runs in the 7th to tie the game at 14. They would score 4 runs in the 8th for the 18-15 win.
The Hornets are now 12-9 for the season. They will begin a 3 game series at Southwest Baptist Friday.
