The Emporia State baseball team won the first game of a 3 game series at Southwest Baptist Friday afternoon 6-2.
Paul Claassen hit a 2 run home run and Cooper Minnick hit a solo home run in the 1st inning. Tanner Arst added a solo home run in the 7th. Tanner Cairns was the winning pitcher going 9 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with 7 strikeouts and no walks.
With the win the Hornets improve to 13-9 for the season and 9-4 in MIAA play. They are now in 2nd place in the MIAA Standings with Central Missouri.
