The Emporia State softball team picked up 2 wins in the Emporia hosted Regional Classic yesterday. The Lady Hornets rallied for a 10-5 win over Wayne State and defeated St. Cloud State 3-1.
Wayne State scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning to take a 5-0 lead. Emporia State would rally to score 4 runs in the 3rd inning on an error, Hanna Steebe single and Destiny Ojigoh 2 run home run. The Lady Hornets tied the game in the 4th on a Gabby Biondo single. They scored 4 more runs in the 5th Gabby Biondo drove in 3 of the runs with a single.
Against St. Cloud Kenzie Garvin doubled in the first run in the 3rd inning. In the 5th inning Gabby Biondo tripled driving in a run. She would score on a Kelsey Phillips single.
Coach April Rosales said the key to winning both games was making adjustments.
Friday Emporia State plays Minnesota State-Mankato at 3pm and Concordia St. Paul at 5:30p.
Tournament play resumes at 10am Friday morning at the Trusler Sports complex.
