Kansas State has been eliminated from the NCAA mens basketball tournament. Cal Irvine out scored the Wildcats 70-64 Friday afternoon.
UC Irvine was 4 for 4 from the free throw line in the final minute of play while Kansas State missed 3 shots and turned the ball over once. K-States biggest lead in the first half was by 10 points 28-18. UC Irvine outscored the Wildcats 22-2 the rest of the half as Barry Brown set on the bench with 2 fouls. Kamau Stokes scored a team high 18 points for Kansas State. Makol Mawien finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Coach Bruce Weber called it disappointing way to end the season.
Kansas State finishes the season with a 25-9 record.
UC Irvine will play Oregon in the 2nd round Sunday.
The Kansas State women were defeated by Michigan 84-54 in the first round of the womens NCAA Tournament.
