A very high fire danger is in place across the KVOE listening area Wednesday.
Southerly winds up to 40 mph will affect Lyon and surrounding counties Wednesday afternoon. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, but the National Weather Service is not planning a red flag warning at this time due to expected relative humidity levels around 40 percent for the afternoon. The Weather Service typically issues red flag warnings for a combination of high temperatures, dry grasses and humidity levels at or below 20 percent.
Currently, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in county-specific burn bans for Wednesday. We’ll keep you updated on KVOE and KVOE.com.
