Missouri Southern scored 2 runs on two bases loaded walks in the top of the 12 inning and held on to out score the Emporia State baseball team 2-0 Saturday.
It was the first game of a 3 game series in a battle for first place in the MIAA standings. The Hornets left the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th and struck out 21 times. Coach Seth Wheeler said they missed several opportunities.
The Hornets and Lions play the 2nd game of the series Sunday afternoon with first pitch set for 3pm at the Trusler Sports complex.
