Candidates for different local and area boards are stepping forward as the primary election filing deadline creeps closer.
Manuel Jackson is the first candidate to file for Bushong City Council. He’s running for re-election.
Meanwhile, David Goldsmith has filed for re-election to the USD 251 North Lyon County School Board. He’s also the first candidate to file election papers for that board.
Elsewhere, Nicky Nuessen is currently the only candidate filing for Americus City Council. Charlie Steffes is the only candidate to file for USD 252 Southern Lyon County School Board.
If enough candidates file — three times the number of open slots on a given board plus one additional candidate — the county primary will take place Aug. 6. The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is June 3.
