City commissioners will consider lending support to multiple initiatives during their action session Wednesday.
Commissioners will first consider approving a resolution for Healthier Lyon County’s Safe Routes to Healthy Food Program. The initiative will seek to install new city infrastructure such as sidewalks, crosswalks and sharrows to help residents located in “food deserts” reach healthier food outlets.
Also commissioners will consider drafting a letter of support for the i6 Federal Grant which will help to spawn the THINK Emporia initiative. The main purpose of THINK Emporia is to help establish a tech hub in Emporia and the surrounding area.
Approval of free dump days, an agreement with KDOT and recognition for the finance department are also on the agenda. The meeting begins at 1:30 inside the municipal courtroom at White Auditorium.
