(kcroyals) The Kansas City Royals’ bullpen woes continued as Kyle Zimmer walked the first three Detroit batters he faced in the seventh inning, leading to a two-run rally and a 5-4 loss on Thursday afternoon.
The Royals scored a run in the first when Alex Gordon scored on a Jorge Soler double.
Detroit scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st.
Whit Merrifield scored on Jorge Soler single in the 3rd inning to tie the game.
Merrifield also scored on an Alex Gordon sacrifice fly in the 5th to give the Royals a 3-2 lead.
Detroit tied the game in the bottom of the 5th. Detroit broke the tie in the 7th. Alex Grodon hit a solo home run in the 8th.
The Royals fall to 2-4 for the season and will be off Friday and resume the series with Detroit Saturday.
