The Emporia High softball team extended their winning streak to 6 in a row with a doubleheader sweep of Highland Park winning 18-0 and 14-0 Thursday.
In the first game Emporia High scored 12 runs in the 1st inning and added 6 more runs in the 2nd. Brynn Riley and Gracie Gilpin combined on a 1 hit shutout. Offensively the Lady Spartans scored 18 runs on 18 hits. Every player in the line up had a hit and scored a run or had an RBI.
In the 2nd game Emporia High scored 3 runs in the 1st and added single runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. They scored 3 runs in the 4th inning an closed out the game with 6 runs in the 5th inning. Brynn Riley drove in 2 runs in the 1st with a triple and drove in 2 runs with a triple in the 5th inning. Riley and Gracie Gilpin combined on a 2 hit shutout.
The Emporia High softball team are scheduled to play at Washburn Rural Monday.
