Saturday morning marks 21 years of existence for the annual Teddy Bear Clinic at the Flinthills Mall.
Beginning in 1998, this continuous event for the Emporia community involves children bringing their favorite stuffed animals to receive an examination, similar to one a child might receive.
Several different stations were set up for the stuffed animals to receive their medical care including an x-ray booth, a weighing station, a station for checking vitals such as blood pressure, vision and hearing, an area to breathing treatments, and a suturing station.
Dr. Christy Jansen, a pediatric doctor for Cotton O’Neil Emporia, says children being exposed to different medical practices can be helpful.
Dr. Jansen encourages parents who’ve never brought their children to the event to do so next year or any year they can.
