The Emporia State softball team swept a doubleheader from Rogers State Tuesday, winning the first game 1-0 and the second game 4-1.
In the first game Hannah Steeby led off the bottom of the 7th with a walk-off home run.
Montana Mesler was the winning pitcher tossing a complete game 2 hitter while striking out 11. A new career high.
In the second game Emporia State scored 3 runs on 3 hits and 1 Rogers State error in the 2nd inning. Maddie Broxterman drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Kenzie Garvin drove in a run with a double. Emporia State added a run in the 3rd inning thanks to an error to take a 4-0 lead. Sydney Righi was the winning pitcher going 5 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Kelsey Phillips pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief. The Emporia State softball team is now 16-21. They will host Fort Hays State Friday in a doubleheader.
