There has been a delay in a planned electric maintenance project just west of Emporia.
Originally, work on Road 170 between Roads F and G was planned for 9 am to 6 pm Wednesday. That has now been pushed to Friday.
The Lyon County Highway Department says a contract crew is handling this project on behalf of Westar Energy. No specifics have been released on the scope of the maintenance project or whether there will be an outage as a result. No official reasons have been announced for why the project is being delayed, but winds could consistently approach 50 mph Wednesday and 40 mph Thursday. Friday could also be breezy, with winds expected as high as 30 mph.

Westar Energy is planning to close a portion of Road 170 between Roads F and G. The reason for the closure is so Westar may perform maintenance on a transmission line in the area.
