The Emporia State softball team swept a doubleheader from Fort Hays State Friday.
Emporia State won the first game 2-1. Both teams scored a run in the 1st inning. Emporia State scored the go ahead run in the 4th inning. Kenzie Garvin scored both runs for the Lady Hornets.
Destiny Ojigoh drove in the first run with a single. Rachel Kauss drove in the winning run with a sacrifice bunt. Montana Mesler was the winning pitcher going 6 innings giving up the 1 run on 1 hit with 5 strikeouts.
Emporia State walked off with a 3-2 win in the 2nd game. Brittany Shepard drove in the first run for Emporia State with a sacrifice fly. Shepard tied the game with a home run in the bottom of the 7th. Maddy Broxterman scored on a bunt to win the game.
The Emporia State softball team is now 18-21 and 8-8 in the MIAA. Emporia State hosts Nebraska Kearney Saturday in the final 2 regular season home games. First pitch is set for 12:00p.
