Railroad maintenance work is coming to a crossing near Emporia next week.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe is planning to set up traffic control before starting work on a crossing at Road R between Emporia and Neosho Rapids. The current plan has work taking place Monday and Tuesday, although there is a chance work could finish up by late Monday.
Road R will be closed between the north and south legs of Road 160 during the project.
Meanwhile, a maintenance project for an electric transmission line just west of Emporia has now been delayed indefinitely.
Work was supposed to take place on Road 170 between Roads F and G Wednesday, but high winds pushed the project to Friday. Now the work has been delayed again because the independent contractor handling the work has been called out of state to help with an unspecified emergency.
