The Emporia State softball swept a doubleheader from Nebraska Kearney Saturday.
The Lady Hornets walked off with a 8-7 win in the first game scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th. Pinch runner Grace Moore scored the winning run on an error. Emporia State scored the 3 runs after Kearney scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th to take a 7-5 lead. The Lady Hornets had scored 2 runs in the 6th to take a 5-4. Hannah Steeby was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Gabby Biondo was 2 for 4 with a RBI and 2 runs scored.
Emporia State won the 2nd game 11-6. The Lady Hornets scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning. Gabby Biondo drove in 3 of the runs with a double. Senior Valerie Kinney also drove in 3 runs. She also finished with 2 RBI in game 1.
The Emporia State softball team improves to 20-21 for the season and 10-8 in MIAA play. Coach April Rosales says her team is growing up .
The Emporia State softball team plays at Central Oklahoma this coming Friday.
