Emporia State’s Brianna Schmitz is in first place after day one of the heptathlon at the KU Relays.
She had a personal best performance in the last event of the day to take over the lead after four events. Brianna won the 200 meter dash with a pr of 25.58 seconds. She also finished 1st in the shot put.
