The Emporia State tennis teams lost close duels with Newman Thursday. Both the women and men were defeated 4-3.
The Emporia State women won at number 1 singles Jessica Purdy, number 2 singles Viktoria Mackova and number 3 singles Cyrielle Peyroche.
The Emporia State men won at number 1 singles Charles Gortzounian, number 2 singles Gerard Pont and number 3 singles Taylor Nelson.
Up next for the Emporia State tennis teams will be the MIAA tournament beginning next Friday.
