The man who allegedly shot a neighbor in the head with a pellet gun as part of a dispute in Madison on Thursday has been arrested.
The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office says 53-year-old Terry Lynn Bogart was arrested Thursday night without incident after the latest round in an ongoing neighbor dispute culminated around noon Thursday with an unnamed person shot in the head. Deputies arrived at 417 South Third and began searching for Bogart, ultimately getting a search warrant for his house. Deputies say they found the gun there before capturing Bogart later.
Bogart was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery and possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The victim was airlifted to a currently unspecified hospital. The Sheriff’s Office says that person is in intensive care but is in stable condition.
Madison High School went through a roughly 30-minute lockdown during the early investigation. Superintendent Stu Moeckel says Greenwood County emergency personnel asked to use the school grounds as a staging ground for a medical helicopter to airlift the patient, so there were several emergency vehicles at the school for a short time. Moeckel says staff and students were never in danger.
Formal charges are pending.
