Emporia States softball team swept a doubleheader from Northeastern State Saturday.
The Lady Hornets won the first game 4-2. They scored 2 runs in the first inning on a Valerie Kinney double. Cassidy Beem hit solo home runs in the 2nd and the 7th innings. Montana Mesler was the winning pitcher.
Emporia State won the 2nd game 10-1. The Lady Hornets scored 2 runs in the first on a bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly.
Cassidy Beem singled in a run in the 3rd inning.
Emporia State scored 7 runs in the 7th. Kenzie Garvin and Rachel Kauss each drove in a run. Hannah Steeby hit a 3 run home run. Cassidy Beem added solo home run and Brittanie Shepherd doubled in a run. Sydney Righi was the winning pitcher. The Emporia State softball team is 22-23 for the season and 12-10 in the MIAA in 5th place in the conference standings with 4 games to play.
The Lady Hornets play at William Jewell on Tuesday.
