The second full week of renovations on Emporia’s downtown sanitary sewer network is now underway.
City Engineer Jim Ubert says work will continue in the alley south of 12th between Merchant and Constitution, with work gradually pushing to the south and later to the east as the project continues. Underground TV camera work continues as well in different areas of downtown as the city continues to gauge the health of the network.
Ubert says progress this week is weather-dependent and also depends on what utilities or other “underground conflicts” that arise.
The project should last through at least spring 2020 and will affect an area from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks north to 14th and from Constitution east to Lakeview.
