Unrelated trials may begin in Emporia next week, depending on how pretrial hearings in rape and drug cases turn out Wednesday.
Edgar Hilberto Gonzalez and Raul Magallanez have separate hearings at 4 pm in Lyon County District Court.
Gonzalez is accused of rape after an incident from January 2018. The affidavit in the case has been sealed throughout, so further details have not been released.
Magallanez faces charges of marijuana distribution and paraphernalia possession with intent to manufacture, plant or cultivate after an arrest in October.
Trials in both cases could begin as soon as Monday.
