Invasions are typically never good, but there was an exception this week.
Emporia State history professor Greg Schneider says his classroom was invaded by university administrators Tuesday. The reason: to announce Schneider as this year’s Roe Cross Distinguished Professor.
Schneider received his bachelor of arts degree from Drake University, following that with a master of arts degree from Ohio University and a Ph.D. in history from Illinois-Chicago. He joined Emporia State’s history faculty in 1998 and has written five books during his time as professor. He says his teaching style resonates with students, and he tries to give students a broad perspective on different historical events.
Schneider currently teaches undergraduate sections in US history, with focal points including 1900-1945, the Cold War and post-1977 events. He has also taught courses about the 1960s, diplomatic history, the history of conservatism and the history of railroads.
