Severe thunderstorms may affect the KVOE listening area into the early morning hours Monday.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 3 am Monday for Lyon, Chase, Greenwood, Morris and Wabaunsee counties. Hail to egg or lime size — 2 inches in diameter — along with winds of up to 75 mph are possible. Isolated tornadoes are possible but unlikely.
Strong to severe storms developed near the Kansas-Colorado border late Sunday afternoon and have been gradually pushing easterly since. Egg-sized hail has been reported near Wheeler and there was at least one confirmed tornado near Goodland.
Separately, a flood watch is in effect for Morris and Wabaunsee counties from 10 pm Sunday to 7 am Monday.

8 am Sunday: Low-end severe weather risk possible Sunday night; flood watch posted near Emporia
A low-end risk of strong to severe thunderstorms is setting up for the KVOE listening area Sunday night.
A slight-to-marginal risk is in place west-to-east across the area, with areas west of the Kansas Turnpike under a slight risk from mid-evening Sunday into the early morning hours Monday.
Hail up to 2 inches in diameter, or egg size, is possible with the stronger storms. Heavy rain is another concern. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Morris and Wabaunsee counties from 10 pm Sunday until 7 am Monday with widespread totals of 1-2 inches overnight and locally higher amounts possible.
More showers and storms are possible through Tuesday night, and there is currently a low-end severe weather risk at least possible areawide Tuesday evening.
