Due to wet and unfavorable conditions, a number of adjustments have been made for local athletics.
The MIAA softball tournament is in a weather delay. The Emporia State softball team is scheduled to take on Central Missouri in an elimination game. First pitch was scheduled for 12:30, but rain in Edmond, OK has temporarily halted play. They are looking at resuming play around 7:30 pm.
Field conditions, on Turnbull Field at the Trusler Sports Complex, due to this week’s rain, have postponed the start of the softball portion of the Spartan Round Ball Classic to Saturday. Play will begin at 10 am, with Andover Central playing Blue Valley Southwest. Blue Valley Southwest takes on Garden City, followed by Dodge City against Andover. The Lady Spartans playing Capuan Mt. Carmel Saturday at 2:30 pm. Garden City and Kapaun Mt. Carmel play at 4 pm, followed by Emporia High and Dodge City at 5:30.
The baseball half of the tournament is slated to start as scheduled.
The baseball games will be played at Sodens Grove. Emporia High will play Dodge City in the 6:30 game. Spartan Coach Anthony Markowitz is looking forward to the tournament.
The regional tennis tournament, being hosted by Emporia High School has been delayed to Saturday at 8:30 am. Wyatt Cahoone and Brendon Kienholz (keen-holz) will make up one of the doubles team.
Cameron Kienholz and Taylor Moorman will make up the other doubles team. Josh Stuttler and Fernando Becerra (bee-sear-uh) will play singles.
The top 6 singles and doubles teams will advance to state.

The Northern Heights baseball and softball games with West Franklin, postponed from Thursday, have been canceled and will not be made up.
