After a historic reversal Saturday, Country House was named the winner of the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby.
Maximum Security, one of the favorites, was the first to cross the finish line, however, was later disqualified after an objection was filed at the race’s conclusion. The objection stated the horse had interfered with the paths of other horses during the race.
Following a 20 minute review of the race, Country House was officially named the winner with Code of Honor coming in second and Tacitus placing third. Maximum Security was listed coming in at 17th.
The controversial ending marks the first time in 145 years that the horse who crossed the finish line first was disqualified.
