The Emporia High Lady Spartans picked up back to back wins in the Round Ball Classic Saturday.
In the first game, Emporia High managed to break an 8-8 tie in the fifth inning to defeat Kapaun Mt. Carmel 11-8 Saturday.
Payten Redeker broke the tie with a single in the bottom of the fifth scoring one run. Emporia High scored six runs in the third thanks to a home-run by Paige Thomas, a double by Gracie Gilpin and a single by Elleana Bennett.
Brynn Riley was the winning pitcher for the Lady Spartans allowing eight runs on nine hits in seven innings.
In the second game, the Lady Spartans were first on the board thanks to a Paige Thomas ground out which scored one run. Emporia High added runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings to close out the victory.
Brynn Riley again picked up the win going three and two-thirds innings allowing one run off two hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Emporia High are back in action Tuesday when they take on Manhattan.
