The Kansas City Royals pounded the Houston Astros 12-2 Tuesday night. Ryan O’Hearn and Whit Merrifield hit grand Slams to power the offense.
O’Hearn hit his as part of a 5 run 3rd inning. It was his first career grand slam and it came in his home state.
Whit Merrifield hit his grand slame in 7th inning. It was also his first career grand slam.
Jorge Soler hit a solo home run in the 2nd inning to give the Royals their first run of the game. Danny Duffy was the winning pitcher going 6 and 2 thirds innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 5 strikeouts. It was also Ned Yosts 700th win as manager of the Kansas City Royals.
The Royals and Astros play again Wednesday night with Jorge Lopez on the mound for the Royals with first pitch at 7:10p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
