USD 251 Northern Lyon County had a relatively short monthly Board of Education meeting on Wednesday evening.
Of the select items on the agenda, highlights came from different financial updates. Superintendent Mike Mathes gave positive updates on the 2018-19 budget, and also presented the 2019-20 Capital Outlay Budget in conjuncture with the five-year facilities plan.
Also discussed was implementing a ‘civic engagement requirement’ in order to graduate. The requirement would be 40 credits of community involvement over the course of four years. Another topic was the increasing of meal plans for students, and Mathes explains the reasoning behind the action.
The next USD 251 Board of Education meeting will be on June 12th at the Americus board office at 7:00 pm.
