A 3 run home run in the top of the 9th lifted Missouri Western to a 4-2 win over the Emporia State baseball team in an elimination game at the MIAA tournament Friday.
The two teams were scoreless thru the first 5 innings of play. Missouri Western scored the games first run in the top of the 6th. Emporia State answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th. In the top of the 9th 2 one out singles by Western set the stage for a 3 run home run, with 2 outs, by Casey Danley off of Emporia State closer Drew Scrimsher. Emporia State Coach Seth Wheeler called it heart breaking finish.
The loss ends the season for the Hornets.
The Emporia State baseball team finishes the season with a 27-22 record.
