The list of candidates for Emporia City Commission keeps growing.
Lisa Brittain is the latest to file for the commission, joining incumbent Becky Smith, Emporia School Board member Susan Brinkman and political newcomers Joni Austenfeld and Todd Maddox in the field. Brittain co-owns Brittain Family Chiropractic with her husband, Jacob, and she says that experience — along with raising young children — prepares her well to be on City Commission.
Separately, Veronica Dean has filed for Americus City Council, joining Larry Birk and Nicolette Nuessen as candidates.
School board, city commission and city council positions are up for election this year. The filing and withdrawal deadline is June 3.
