Emporia business owner Jeff Herrick has died.
Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home says Herrick was 56 when he died at his home Friday.
Herrick started Star Construction in 1995 and had operated the firm the past 24 years. Prior to that, he helped to build water treatment facilities across the Midwest.
A Wichita native, Herrick grew up in Hartford. He came to Emporia to play football before turning to construction as a career. He married Tracy Jefferis in 1986. She survives, as do three children, two grandchildren, mother, one brother and one sister.
Herrick’s funeral will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the USD 252 Honor Flight program in care of the funeral home.
