Lyon County residents were definitely on board with the Postal Service Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive over the weekend.
Over 19,000 pounds of food was collected. Organizer Janet Way says she was impressed by the amount of food that came in.
All food collected goes to the Salvation Army food pantry, which has been low on supplies now for over three months. Suzanne Worthen-Miller of the Salvation Army says donations will help families get a full bag of food as opposed to the smaller amounts handed out recently.
Residents that want to contribute but did not over the weekend can leave non-perishable, non-expired food at their mailboxes this week. All non-perishable food is welcome.
