The Emporia Arts Center is launching its annual fundraising drive with a big concert announcement.
Straight No Chaser, one of America’s most well-known a cappella groups, is bringing its “Open Bar Tour” to Emporia’s Granada Theatre on Nov. 6. Arts Center Director Dawn Young says this will be a special show for a lot of reasons.
Tickets go on sale at 10 am Friday, ranging from $38 to $60.
The concert highlights the Art Center’s mission of serving more children with arts offerings throughout the year. Young says 75 percent of the Arts Center budget for arts classes, the Artmobile, Performing Arts Series, Trusler Art Gallery and Glaser Art Store is funded by residents, business partners, trusts and foundations. Memberships range from $175 to $4,000.
Separately, the Arts Center has rescheduled the finale of the 2019-2019 Performing Arts Series. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was supposed to be in town April 30, but illness forced the band to reschedule. The new concert date is July 31. Tickets purchased for the original show date will be honored.
