Family Promise of the Flint Hills has recently announced a new campaign to aid those in the Emporia area who do not have a stable housing situation.
This fundraising drive began after Chairman Doug Epp discovered that more than fifty homeless children attending USD 253. Epp then gathered members of Emporia’s faith community to discuss a plan of action to help these kids. The number has since risen to 59 children since this revelation, and Epp says Family Promise will help to combat this situation.
The estimated operating expenses for the program is around $146,000, and Epp says over half of that must be raised before it can take effect. Epp also emphasizes the need for Family Promise in Emporia.
