St. Thomas Aquinas out scored the Emporia High baseball team 7-2 in the Aquinas hosted regional championship game Thursday night.
The Spartans left the bases loaded in the first inning without scoring a run. Coach Anthony Markowitz called that a momentum changer.
Aquinas scored a run in the bottom of the 1st and Emporia High played catch up the rest of the game. The Spartan bats were silenced, finishing with 3 hits. Hayden Baumwart hit a home run to lead off the 5th inning to cut the deficit to 4-1. In the 7th inning John Miller scored on a Hayden Baumwart sacrifice fly after leading off the inning with a triple. The Spartans stranded 6 base runners.
Coach Anthony Markowitz still called the season a successful one.
Emporia High ends their season with a 11-8 record.
