Less than a month remains before the annual Symphony in the Flint Hills, and the presenting organization now has a new leader coming on board.
Leslie VonHolten comes on board immediately after the Symphony in the Flint Hills event June 15. VonHolten has served as director of programs for Humanities Kansas, as a grant writer for the Lawrence Arts Center and in community outreach for the University of Kansas Center for East Asian Studies. She currently serves as board president for the Garden of Eden in Lucas.
VonHolten, who has bachelor’s degrees in art history and English literature and a master’s in public administration from KU, also writes book commentary for High Plains Public Radio in Garden City.
VonHolten replaces Christy Davis, who served as the Symphony in the Flint Hills executive director since 2013.
This year’s event will take place at Irma’s Pasture near Bazaar. For more information, call 620-273-8955 or go online to www.symphonyintheflinthills.org.
