Reading City Council officially has its first candidate filing of 2019.
Incumbent Bill Paige filed his paperwork with Lyon County Election Office Monday. Three council positions are open for election on the Reading City Council this year.
So far Paige is the only incumbent to declare intentions for re-election.
Other election developments include last week as local not-for-profit attorney Jeremy Dorsey filed for a position on the USD 253 Board of Education joining incumbents Art Gutierrez and Grant Riles as well as hopeful Jeff Lutes.
Also last week Larry Birk filed for Americus City Council joining Nicolette Nuessen and Kyle Cole became the first candidate to file for Olpe City Council. The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is June 3.
A primary election will be held Aug. 6 if enough candidates file for election. For more information about Lyon County positions or the filing process, go online to www.lyoncounty.org, click on “Elections” under the Government drop-down tab and scroll down to the 2019 Election Information header.
