Wednesday morning saw the beginning to a water-filled summer at Peter Pan Park with the Grand Opening of the Splash Pad.
The Splash Pad was built alongside the newer playground and replaced the old wading pool. City officials stated the costs for the pad came out to be about a half million dollars.
The pad was specifically designed so that it could be fun, safe, and still go along with the theme of the park. City Manager Mark McAnarney talks about why the Splash Pad was built.
Three funds contributed to the construction of the attraction. These include the official park funds, grant money from the Jones trust, and earnings from the Lake Kahola fund.
Public donations also contributed to the project. The pad is free and open to the community.
