The Emporia Public Library will be holding its Summer Reading Kickoff Friday.
The kickoff is the official start of the Library’s summer reading program. The kickoff will run from 2 to 3:30 at the library located at 110 E. 6th Ave. in Emporia and will include games, activities and crafts.
Library Director Robin Newell, a recent guest of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia, says this year’s theme is a universe of stories.
As Newell mentioned the program includes activities for children and adults. The list of youth activities includes preschool storytimes, the kid’s concert series which will take place on Wednesdays between May and June and a robots in space event among much more.
For the adults, activities will include book discussions, a new one book, one Emporia program and a screening of the classic film October Sky in June. The summer will culminate with the Grand Finale Pool Party in July.
