The season came to an end for the Emporia High softball team Thursday. The Lady Spartans were shutout by Bishop Carroll 5-0 in the first round of the 5A State tournament.
The Lady Spartans were shutout on 2 hits. They also stranded 5 baserunners and committed 4 errors. Coach Troy Chapman said they came up short.
Coach Chapman said this season was a big step forward.
The Lady Spartans finished with a 15 and 7 record.
At the 2-1A State softball tournament in Pratt, Oskaloosa defeated Burlingame 10-0.
At the 3A Baseball tournament being played at the Trusler Sports Complex Rock Creek shutout Burlington 3-0.
In todays semi-finals Rock Creek plays Wellsville and Minneapolis plays Sabetha. Games begin at 11am.
In the 3A softball tournament semi-finals Frontenac plays St. Marys and Silver Lake plays Holton. Games begin at 11am.
