There has been a flurry of activity at the Lyon County Election Office the past few days as the candidate filing and withdrawal deadline approaches.
On Friday, Dallas Shepherd and Brian Shank filed for Neosho Rapids City Council by petition. The Election Office has to check the validity of petition signatures before certifying candidates.
Also Friday, Larry Masenthin filed for Neosho Rapids City Council by fee. Robert Reust filed for Admire City Council.
So far, not enough candidates have filed to force a primary in any of the city council, city commission, mayor or school board races. Several races still have no candidates, including Admire mayor, Allen mayor, Hartford mayor and two of the city’s three City Council positions, Olpe mayor and USD 252 Position 1.
