The Emporia Junior American Legion baseball team was 1 and 1 on day 1 of the Emporia Summer Slam Saturday.
Post 5 won the first game 7-6 over El Dorado. They scored 3 runs in the 6th inning to claim the win. Cam Geitz, Vance Kinsey and Wyatt Orender each drove in a run for the Junior legion.
In their second game the Emporia Juniors were out scored by the Wichita Aviators 10-5. Wichita scored 6 of their runs in the 3rd inning. Post 5 tried to rally scoring 3 runs in the 5th but was not enough. Coach Cory Shovick said he was pleased with the way they battled back to win the first game.
The Tournament wraps up today with Wichita playing Leavenworth at 10am. Emporia will play Paola at noon. The Topeka Senators play El Dorado at 2pm. The Championship game will be played at 4pm. All games are scheduled to be played at Sodens Grove.
