The Olpe Chicken House was packed with cops in waiter’s aprons during the Tip a Cop/Tip a Deputy event on Monday.
Tip a Cop/Tip a Deputy is typically held at the Olpe Chicken House and Bobby D’s, with funds benefitting Special Olympics Kansas.
The officers who work the events say they always have a great time talking to and building a relationship with members of the community. Officer Dominic Vorthers talks more about why these events are so fun for him.
The first event, two weeks ago, was rescheduled due to the weather. Deputy Zach Shafer states that the reschedule was not because law enforcement was worried about attendance but was worried for a different reason.
Monday’s event raised $475.
Local law enforcement will be holding more events later this summer including the Tip a Cop/Tip a Deputy at Bobby D’s on June 10th and the Emporia Police Department Benet Association’s Disc Golf Scramble at Hammond park on July 27th.
