Newton swept a doubleheader from the Emporia Junior American Legion baseball team Tuesday night.
Newton won the first game 13-7. Post 5 held a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Newton answered with 5 runs in the 2nd inning and never trailed the rest of the night. The Post 5 Juniors tried to rally scored 2 runs in the 5th and 4 runs in the 6th. Cam Geitz was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and a 2 runs scored.
Newton won the 2nd game 9-3. Carter Garza led Post 5 going 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Coach Cory Shovick says they continue to go thru growing pains.
The Emporia Juniors are now 1-5 and are scheduled to host the Kansas Senators Thursday night.
