Day two of the two-day blood drive finished up Thursday at the Emporia Presbyterian Church – West Campus, exceeding their goal once again.
The American Red Cross set the goal for Thursday’s blood drive at 54 pints, and by the drive’s end, 57 pints were collected. Wednesday’s drive accumulated 90 pints of blood, topping the 68-pint goal. This brings the total pints donated to 147 in 48 hours.
Summer blood donations typically fall behind the curve compared to other seasonal donations. Susan Faler of the American Red Cross says this happens due to various things.
More blood drives are taking place in the next couple of weeks. Emporia High School student Kianna Victor is organizing a blood drive Friday at the Flint Hills Mall from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
