Simmons Pet Food officially announced the completion of the new flexible packaging facility expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday.
Simmons Pet Food is a leading supplier of custom and private label pet food solutions in North America with four operation locations in the United States and Canada. To retain the mantle of ‘leading supplier,’ the manufacturing company had to expand its supply output to match the exponential demand.
State and local officials, along with many other prominent citizens attended the ribbon cutting, including Governor Laura Kelly. Governor Kelly says this expansion is excellent for the Kansas economy and job growth outlooks.
Governor Kelly is thrilled for the potential the expansion has not only for Emporia but the state as a whole.
The expansion required a hefty investment from Simmons. President Jason Godsey says the start-up and operational costs account for most of the funding.
Current projections have Simmons increasing their workforce to 700 employees by adding as many as 200 jobs by 2022. This new facility is now expected to increase the annual facility output to 9 million cases of wet pet food cups and 2.4 million cases of tubs.
